JustWatch has revealed the most streamed movies and TV shows for January 2025.

What did you watch last month? What was your most streamed TV series? What movie did you discover for the first time? Let me know in the comment section below.

Movies

1.) Blink Twice

Blink Twice had a great month, holding strong in the top ten list and finishing on top for January. The film stars Channing Tatum and Naomi Ackie, and it was Zoe Kravitz’s directorial debut. It might not have grabbed audiences by storm here when it was in cinemas, but it seems to be finding a fan at homes.

2.) Back in Action

Cameron Diaz returns to film after a long break in this action comedy alongside Jamie Foxx and it seems audiances are ready to welcome her back with open arms as they supported this Netflix Original film.

3.) Alien: Romulus

As weird as it is to open Disney+ to stream an Alien film, it’s what a lot of Aussies have been doing in January to watch the last, Alien: Romulus. Not that you’d have much of a choice; it’s out of cinemas and has no physical media release.

4.) Den of Thieves

The second film is out now and in cinemas, so it seems a lot of viewers wanted to catch-up on the first film.

5.) Dune

Dune and Dune: Part Two both made the top ten as one of 2024’s best films; it’s not a surprise plenty were watching them back-to-back over their holiday break.

Here’s the complete top ten list of movies from this past month.

  1. Blink Twice
  2. Back in Action
  3. Alien: Romulus
  4. Den of Thieves
  5. Dune
  6. Dune: Part Two
  7. Nightbitch
  8. Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl
  9. Challengers
  10. The Fall Guy

TV Shows

1.) Landman

The latest series from Taylor Sheridan and co-created with Christian Wallace, this series stars Billy Bob Thorton, Ali Larter, Demi Moore and Jon Hamm in this story about oil and claim to money.

2.) The Rookie

In its seventh series now airing, it appears The Rookie is a favourite among Australian audiences.

3.) Severance

After a several-year break between series, Severance has just returned for its second season; how making it into third place is going to be due to many catching up and re-watching the series before the follow-up.

4.) High Potential

Over on Disney+, this ABC series from creator Drew Goddard stars Kaitlin Olson as a police cleaner who is able to help solve crimesticking two boxes people love in crime and that little bit of something extra.

5.) The Day of the Jackal

One of the best series from last year landed in fifth place after, I would presume, many caught up on the series following good word-of-mouth from yours truly and others.
