Longtime Pokemon TCG players have been long dreading this migration, but for new players, or those looking to get into digital Pokemon TCG, the news that Pokemon Trading Card Game Live will be migrating into one game as of June might be considered good news.

What does this mean? If you’ve been playing or have played Pokemon Trading Card Game Online at all since its launch in 2011, your account will be migrated to the new game, Pokemon Trading Card Game Live, as of June 9th. And the original game will no longer be playable, with the app being removed from digital storefronts completely.

Some of the reasons that players of the Live version of the game have been putting off migration as long as possible include the change in digital currency, the lower amount of cards in booster packs, and the lack of one-to-one modes and formats.

I migrated my account back when Pokemon Trading Card Game Live entered Beta in November last year and have seen some improvements since the soft launch. Visually it’s a much more interesting game, and the addition of a battle pass per season makes it feel more modern. However, I can defiantly understand the complaints.

Pokemon Trading Card Game Live is available on PC, Mac, iPhone and Android.
