Leaks are never good, but when it’s one of the biggest games of the year and the developer has worked so hard to hide much of the experience for the players, it’s much more disappointing.

This is what happened with God of War Ragnarok, which, unfortunately, is amidst a big leak across the internet. This follows one retailer in the US who sold the game to customers a little over two weeks ahead of the game’s release date last week. Those customers have then chosen to take what they’re playing to the internet rather than just enjoy having gotten the game earlier.

There’s not too much that can be done right now; after those discs left the store, it was in the customers’ hands as to what they would do with them.

Sony Santa Monica Studio shared the following message on Twitter in response to the game leaking early.

“As we approach launch, it is important for our studio to preserve the experience of God of War Ragnarök for players who want to enjoy the game for the first time without spoilers.

We ask that you please be considerate of the many fans who do not want to accidentally see clips, gameplay, or narrative spoilers and avoid sharing them wider.

We are doing our best to limit the exposure of unsanctioned footage and screenshots, but the reality is that we cannot catch everything.

For those of you who do not want to risk seeing anything before launch, we strongly advise that you mute any keywords or hashtags associated with the game until release day.

We appreciate the support you have shown us more than we can say. We can assure you it will be worth the wait to experience the game yourself when it is released in less than two weeks on November 9th.

Thank you

Santa Monica Studio”

I’d advise you to stay off social media if you can, or at least mute as many God of War-related terms as possible to save yourself from seeing something that could tarnish your experience playing the game when it releases on November 9th for PS5 & PS4.

We’ll have a spoiler-free review for God of War Ragnarok at 3 AM AEDT on November 4th.
