All in Dylan Blight

Crawl Review

Crawl reminds me a lot of the genre films I loved watching growing up in the late 90’s-early-2000’s, movies that did their rounds consistently on TV which included Lake Placid, Anaconda, Deep Blue Sea, Rogue and Snakes on a Plane. They’re thrill rides from start to finish, at times silly — some more than others — but a fun ride. And Crawl is very much that: a fun ride.

US Review

US is about you and I, it's about the U.S and it's about all of human civilization. Although Jordan Peele's directorial debut Get Out wore its theme on its sleeve and was transparent with its story of racism in American, US wears its theme with a thin-veil, but the most obvious thematic story being told is one of workers class in American, and ultimately the world over. And yeah, it's scary.

Happy Death Day Review

Happy Death Day, directed by Christopher Landon (who previously worked on a lot of The Paranormal Activity films), wears its inspiration on its sleeve. The Universal logo opens and blinks out before restarting three times over -- it’s cute at best. Yes! This is a horror movie inspired so very obviously by Groundhog Day.

Blade Runner 2049 Review

My head was swirling as I left the cinema having just watched Blade Runner 2049. I sat in my car for 10 minutes just to process the film I had just watched -- pondering its beauty, its brutality and working my mind through the many questions it had left me. This is the sign of an amazing film -- an amazing piece of art -- that has your body overcome with a euphoria like I had, left wanting to dissect its pieces, for all the right reasons.
