July is a month all about rebirths, revitalisation, and returning to dormant series. Two films releasing this month are holding a lot on their shoulders for Marvel and DC as well.
Both the release of Superman and Jurassic World: Rebirth aim to breathe fresh life into characters and worlds that haven’t had a great entry in their last cinematic appearances. Zack Snyder’s DC Universe and Man of Steel left fans looking for something more, while Jurassic World: Dominion wasn’t the ‘dinosaurs take over the world’ success story many were hoping for when that film was released. And in recent stories of films that didn’t live up to expectations, there’s nothing more in that box than the release of 2015’s Fantastic Four, which was supposed to set up a new series of films but never progressed beyond an abysmal box office and critical response. The Fantastic Four: First Steps now has a lot to live up to as it also brings Marvel’s first family into the MCU. For horror fans, July is also getting a new addition to the dormant I Know What You Did Last Summer series. Going for the same treatment that Scream received, I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025) is both a sequel to the first two films as well as a reboot, introducing new characters.
Here are all the new films coming to Australian cinemas in June 2025.
