'God Of War' New Game+ Mode Added August 20th
by Dylan Blight
Santa Monica Studio may have stated God of War would be getting no DLC, but that doesn't stop them from adding a free update for New Game+ which will be releasing on August 20th.
Confirmed on the PS Blog today by Aaron Kaufman, the Community Strategist at Santa Monica Studio, New Game+ will unsurprisingly require you to have beat the game first, then you can dive back into the world yet again yelling "BOI!"
You'll carry over all your armour, enchantments, talismans, resources and abilities into your NG+ game and you'll be able to play on whatever difficulty you choose.
Enemies will apparently be a higher level with the PS Blog post boasting, 'some of which might even have a few new tricks up their sleeves!' Which I assume is added variations on enemies moves to keep things more exciting in your NG+ playthrough.
There will be a new set of gear exclusive for NG+ which is sure to peak the interest of those collecting every piece of gear in the game. You'll need the new resource 'Skag Slap' to upgrade your gear to the highest level now also, but the post didn't mention where exactly and how rare that will be.
If you don't wish to experience the story fully this time around, you'll be able to skip cutscenes now thanks to this update as well, in NG+ or any subsequent playthrough outside your first.
There was no mention of any new trophies being added for completing NG+ or collecting the new gear, but trophy hunters can hope they may be.
This is a nice update from Santa Monica Studio that includes more than your usual New Game+ mode details. Those looking for a reason to play through the game again will be getting one very soon.
