Watch 40 Minutes Of ‘The Quiet Man’ Gameplay
by Dylan Blight
During a live-stream event held on Square Enix’s Youtube channel, we got our first look at The Quiet Man with a live gameplay demo. If you’ve been intrigued by this title since its reveal at E3 2018, this is your first chance to get a better idea of what the game will be outside of some screenshots earlier this week.
Gameplay starts around 39 minutes in the full stream video below.
It’s about 40 minutes of gameplay and it looks highly unfinished, but interesting nonetheless.
The Quiet Man is blending cinematic full motion video with CGI elements almost seamlessly. Although, something can be said for some said about the acting at times, especially from the guys in the alleyway that protagonist Dane fights in the first five minutes. The draw back of the camera into the CGI character models before beginning the third-person brawling looks good and the character models look great, but the animations aren’t up to the same quality.
It seems like the gameplay will consist of a lot of button mashing as Dane takes on hordes of enemies in this supposably three hour long, cinematic and intense story. This is where The Quiet Man’s problems can be seen strongly though with its bad animations, camera, and what looks like a boring beat-em-up with little variation on combat.
Though it’s aiming to be a downloadable budget title The Quiet Man shows a lot of potential for its size. If the gameplay issues can be fixed before release this could be an interesting genre mix.
We currently don't have a release date for The Quiet Man, but are you interested in seeing more from this odd title?
