'Layers of Fear' Developer Teases New Game 'Project Méliès'
by Dylan Blight
In March Gun Media -- publisher of Friday the 13th: The Game -- announced they had obtained publishing rights for Layers of Fear developer Bloober Team's next game, and today they released a short eerie teaser trailer for the as now titled, Project Méliès.
The 35-second teaser titled 'Project Méliès: Yet He Stands' is told as a 1900's silent film. A character (possibly named Jimmy) is seen walking through what looks like a boat with silent film text cards appearing. Eventually spotting a figure on an overpass the character turns to run as the screen reads "Run, Kimmy, run!"
Typing 'Méliès' into Google will reveal Georges Méliès as the first result which would make sense as the project title. He is one of the most famous silent film era directors and someone who helped shape cinema into what it is today. If you've watched Hugo directed by Martin Scorsese and based on the book by Brian Selznick, Sir Ben Kingsley portrays Méliès.
It's unlikely any of Méliès work directly is influencing the story of Project Méliès and is simply a project title for the silent film ascetic, but we will find out sometime in the future as developer Bloober Team reveals more about the game.
