Aussie Developed Visual Novel ‘Necrobarista’ Coming To PS4
by Dylan Blight
Melbourne based developer Route 59 have announced their upcoming visual novel, Necrobarista will be coming to PS4 along with the previously announced PC and Switch. This information was paired with a new, very cinematic trailer for the game which shows its anime-inspired art-style, crazy stylised characters and intriguing story.
Set inside a supernatural coffee house within a modern-day Melbourne, Australia, Necrobarista has a unique idea: the dead return to Earth for one more day to finish any unfinished business they have. The game will primarily focus on Maddy, the cafe’s manager who is also the local necromancer dealing with -- as you could guess -- one hectic day.
A free demo for PC will be coming sometime later this year, with the full game releasing in 2019.
Check out the description for Necrobarista (which explains the game better than the trailer) and the new trailer (which shows the game beautifully) below.
"Necrobarista is a gorgeous visual novel built in a 3D graphical framework while maintaining a 2D "hand-drawn" anime-inspired aesthetic. Necrobarista places a high focus on animation and camera movement to provide a directed experience, utilizing the techniques of cinematography to draw the player into a text-based narrative. Players will experience the story of a supernatural Melbourne cafe where the dead are permitted to return for one last night to walk among the living and enjoy one last cup of coffee. Through a series of vignettes, players will experience the story from the varied viewpoints of a diverse cast of characters, and experience a supernaturally-tinged version of the local culture of Melbourne's cafe scene."
