Sony has released the upcoming list of games coming to PlayStation Plus for for November 2018. Leading this month’s titles is a trip to Japan through Yakuza Kiwami, a remake of the first game in the long-running franchise. For some sci-fi shoot-em-up fun, you’ll also have Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition to play. No bonus PlayLink or PSVR titles this month though, disappointingly.Read More
PlayStation Plus Games and Trophies For October 2018
by Dylan Blight
Sony has released the upcoming list of games coming to PlayStation Plus for October 2018. Leading the titles this month is Friday the 13th and Laser League, available October 2cnd.
PlayLink title Knowledge is Power is available for another month, but there is no PSVR bonus game to replace Here They Lie.
This month you will able to achieve a total of 6 Platinum, 26 Gold, 45 Silver, and 180 Bronze trophies an improvement on last month’s low trophy count. The easiest Platinum this month is Master Reboot which can be achieved in less than 6 hours following a guide.
The full list is below.
FRIDAY THE 13th (PS4)
‘Jason is back! Jason Voorhees is unleashed and stalking the grounds of Camp Crystal Lake! Friday the 13th: The Game is one of the most highly-anticipated horror titles of all time. You will finally be able to take on the role as Jason Voorhees and Camp Crystal Lake counselors.’
Friday the 13th has had a troubled history since its release, but we at the Explosion Network have had a lot of fun playing it in the past, even spending a lot of time streaming it on Twitch. Having it on PS+ is going to give the player base a nice boost.
The trophies are quite ridiculous and unless you’re looking to spend hundreds of hours playing this game I wouldn’t worry about looking at them.
LASER LEAGUE (PS4)
‘Vaporise the opposition in the light-speed future of sport.
An all new multiplayer experience - easy to pick up, but near impossible to put down, Laser League starts as a simple test of your reflexes, but soon becomes a strategic showdown with deep team tactics.
Combine your class abilities, dominate the pitch, eliminate your opponents and claim your place on the podium.
Beat Mastery challenges and level up to unlock hundreds of kits and customisations. Rise up the leaderboards and become a sports legend of 2150.
Laser League, like nothing you’ve played before.’
Laser League promotes itself as a combination of a gladiators game and Rocket League hybrid. It released earlier in the year to little attention (I haven’t played it either), but maybe being on PS Plus will give it some needed players. Plus if it’s really good, it could shoot out into success from this.
The trophies are as you’d expect, very multiplayer heavy and require a combination of ranking up, winning and achieving certain conditions including getting MVP 10 times. I’m not sure if you can boost these in private matches so difficulty is uncertain.
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER (PS4, PLAYLINK)
'Claim your fame in a sparkling PS4 exclusive game show quiz from the growing PlayLink range. Don’t worry about your DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller – simply grab your smart device, choose from one of eight characters and snap a selfie, then enter the Pyramid of Knowledge, where you and up to five friends answer a variety of themed questions in a madcap race to its summit. '
Sony's push to get more people playing the PlayLink games continue, so if you didn't grab Knowledge Is Power by now on many of its sales at EB Games, here's another for the family, fun trivia game.
You can grab an easy Platinum here if you have a bunch of smart phone or tablet devices to play the game on. Alternatively, there are programs on the PC that you can use to pretend to be a phone but will use a lot of CPU power.
MASTER REBOOT (PS3)
‘Imagine a world where death is no longer final, where precious memories are saved to enjoy forever, where your soul is immortal, welcome to the Soul Cloud. Upload your soul to our dedicated servers and relax knowing that a part of you will live on for eternity. That favorite holiday, happy moments from your childhood, meeting that special someone for the first time. All these memories saved for your digital soul for your family to revisit again and again. The Soul Cloud - saving your past to secure your future.’
It is the month of Halloween and although it may not look like a horror game at first, it is indeed a horror/sci-fi/adventure/puzzle... game. A first-person adventure set in a scary future that I never got around to playing on PS3, but have had in my wishlist -- now maybe is the time.
As a bonus, the Plat can be achieved in 4-6 hours following a guide!
THE BRIDGE (PS3, PS4, PS VITA)
'The Bridge is a 2D logic puzzle game that forces you to reevaluate your preconceptions of physics and perspective. It is Isaac Newton meets M. C. Escher. Manipulate gravity to redefine the ceiling as the floor while venturing through impossible architectures. Explore increasingly difficult worlds, each uniquely detailed and designed to leave you with a pronounced sense of intellectual accomplishment. The Bridge exemplifies games as an art form, with beautifully hand-drawn art in the style of a black-and-white lithograph.’
An interesting looking puzzle game with a unique art-style, The Bridge looks like it could be fun for your PS Vita.
With 19 Bronze and 1 Silver trophy, it's not exactly the most exciting game in that regard.
ROCKETBIRDS 2: EVOLUTION (PS4, PS Vita)
‘This Story Tastes nothing like chicken! - Step into the webbed feet of “Hardboiled Chicken”, the series’ undeniably plucky superchicken secret agent and venture into the game's full Story Mode campaign. Thanks to the return of the evil penguin despot, iL Putzki, Hardboiled must hunt down and eliminate him once and for all using jetpacks, new guns, disguises and skills only fit for the Bond of super-chicken agents.’
I've always wanted to try out both of the Rocketbirds games, but never got around to them. They remind me of a certain mission and character in the Spyro games, but a bit more violent.
It's a grind with 25+ hours for the Platinum here, but maybe if you're playing the Vita version on the go it'll be easier. It's not challenging though and you can find several guides online.
2064: READ ONLY MEMORIES (PS4, PS VITA)
‘2064: Read Only Memories is a cyberpunk thriller that merges classic adventure gaming with ultramodern storytelling. A struggling journalist turns reluctant detective, teaming up with the world’s first sapient machine. Together they will uncover a shocking conspiracy that could shake the foundations of Neo-San Francisco.’
I recently reviewed 2064: Read Only Memories on the Nintendo Switch, which you can read here where I said:
If you're in the mood for a cyberpunk adventure, it's impossible for me to not recommend this, as long as you're not just looking for neon lights and cool guns, of which this game contains minimal of either.
Trophy wise it's a big complicated mess of multiple playthroughs and needing guides to make the right decisions. So I wouldn't be looking at this as an easy adventure game Plat.
