Catch-A-Ride To Pandora in PSVR with 'Borderlands 2 VR' This December
by Dylan Blight
Borderlands 2 is coming to PSVR on December 14th to give vault hunters a more personal adventure into Pandora.
It’s a pretty big venture to bring a huge game like Borderlands 2 to PSVR and a simple VR patch this is far from. A lot of the design would have to be reworked, but if I was guessing, I’d say the cell-shaded style of Borderlands would lend well to PSVR.
The gameplay has had to go through some changes and accessibility overhauls. This includes BAMF Time (BadAss Mega Fun Time) which lets you slow time to dodge bullets and such -- possibly alleviating the hecticness of Borderlands in PSVR. Movement as well has added in a few options including the go-to point-to-point teleportation system a lot of VR games use or opt for full controller motion, which often leads to more motion sickness, especially for newer VR users. Shooting in vehicles is controlled by your head now as well, which will make for some interesting neck-twisting fun.
One element that will leave big Borderlands fans disappointed is the removal of any co-op. It’s a solo experience only now, which may make sense given how big the game is, but Borderlands is known as a co-op game for many and that’s how they played them all -- so it’s a little disappointing. This does mean the four original Borderlands 2 Vault Hunters have had to have their skills updated as the co-op ones are removed, so this version of Borderlands 2 will feature some new stuff.
I really wanna know if full loco-motion works well in Borderlands 2 because I’m not a big fan of the point and teleport stuff. The lack of Aim Controller support is also a little disappointing but makes sense in some ways like dual pistols for example.
