Askiisoft and Devolver Digital’s upcoming release, Katana ZERO, which was due to come out on PC and Nintendo Switch this Friday has been refused classification in Australia & New Zealand.

Devolver Digital posted the news on their official Twitter account stating:

“Heads up to folks in Australia / New Zealand - Katana ZERO has a ‘Classification Refused’ rating and therefore will not be released on Switch in Australia and New Zealand on Thursday. Our team is re-submitting in hopes to get that changed and we’ll keep you posted with news!”

Devolver Digital is not new to having their games refused classification, or straight up banned in Australia in the past (see Hotline Miami 2) but since Katana ZERO does feature heavy drug use — the bane of the review board — it’ll be interesting to see if the game will be allowed classification in Australia & New Zealand.

It’s disappointing, to say the least whenever this happens.

We will have Katana ZERO content, including a review releasing in the future either way. Stay tuned for that and more on the game being released or not.
