PlayStation Plus Games and Trophies For August 2018

by Dylan Blight

Sony has released the upcoming list of games coming to PlayStation Plus for September 2018. Leading the titles this month are Destiny 2 and God of War III: Remastered, available 4th of September. Well actually Desiny 2 is avaliable now!

There are two extra titles this month as well as the usual PS4, PS3 and Vita titles. You can grab Here They Lie for PSVR available until October 2cnd and Knowledge is Power the PlayLink title until November 6th.

This month you will able to achieve a total of 4 Platinum, 44 Gold, 38 Silver, and 103 Bronze trophies. If you have the 6+ tablets or devices needed, Knowledge is Power is the easiest Platinum trophy for the month.

The full list is below.

DESTINY 2 (PS4)

'Humanity’s last safe city has fallen to an overwhelming invasion force, led by Ghaul, the imposing commander of the brutal Red Legion. He has stripped the city’s Guardians of their power, and forced the survivors to flee. You will venture to mysterious, unexplored worlds of our solar system to discover an arsenal of weapons and devastating new combat abilities. To defeat the Red Legion and confront Ghaul, you must reunite humanity’s scattered heroes, stand together, and fight back to reclaim our home.'

Destiny 2 is available NOW for PS Plus! It's an early start to the September games but Activision may be hoping players may want to jump into the Forsaken DLC which is releasing on September 4th.

The trophies are a lot more straight forward than the first game. You'll need to play each of the classes, unlock their subclasses, so it's not quick -- but simple enough.

God of War 3 is the final chapter in the original Kratos story. Find out how his story finished before he washed up in the Nordic lore in God of War (2018) this year.

It isn't an easy Platinum. You have to beat the 'Titan' mode, complete sections without dying ect. But if you've done previous God of War games before, it's similar stuff.

GOD OF WAR III : REMASTERED (PS4)

'In God of War III we join Kratos, riding on the back of a gigantic titan, ascending Mount Olympus in a full-on assault. he's after one thing and one thing only vengeance for years of betrayal and tragedy. The closing chapter of the trilogy is easily one of the greatest gaming spectacles in PlayStation® history, perfect for anyone who wants to re-live the action in visceral detail, or for those who may have missed out first time round.'

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER (PS4, PLAYLINK)

'Claim your fame in a sparkling PS4 exclusive game show quiz from the growing PlayLink range. Don’t worry about your DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller – simply grab your smart device, choose from one of eight characters and snap a selfie, then enter the Pyramid of Knowledge, where you and up to five friends answer a variety of themed questions in a madcap race to its summit. '

Sony's push to get more people playing the PlayLink games continue, so if you didn't grab Knowledge Is Power by now on many of its sales at EB Games, here's another for the family, fun trivia game.

You can grab an easy Platinum here if you have a bunch of smart phone or tablet devices to play the game on. Alternatively, there are programs on the PC that you can use to pretend to be a phone but will use a lot of CPU power.

HERE THEY LIE (PSVR + PS4)

'Here They Lie transports you to a terrifying world from which you cannot escape. Explore a nightmarish city inhabited by strange, malevolent creatures in this ground-breaking first-person horror.'

One of the launch window PSVR games, Here They Lie actually received a PS4 patch making it playable in non-VR in February. So yes, it's a PSVR title this month, but people without VR can play it as well if you're looking for a horror experience.

The game doesn't have a Platinum, unfortunately, but you can pick up all the trophies with a collectable guide in 3-5 hours.

ANOTHER WORLD - 20TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION (PS3, PS4, PS VITA)

'Also known as Out Of This World™, Another World is a pioneer action/platformer that released across more than a dozen platforms since its debut in 1991. Along the years, Another World™ has attained cult status among critics and sophisticated gamers alike.'

Another World is a part of gaming history. That said, it's clunky controls might be hard for some to enjoy playing in 2018.

You can pick up all the trophies in an hour or more depending on how fast you can play the game, understand the controls and follow a video guide, but there is no Platinum here.

Q.U.B.E DIRECTOR'S CUT (PS3, PS4)

Q.U.B.E: Director's Cut is a brain-twisting first-person puzzler. Using special high-tech gloves, you manipulate the environment around you – build bridges, shift walls, open new paths - in order to journey deep into a mysterious giant cube hurtling through space towards Earth and destroy it.

If you enjoyed the puzzles of Portal, Q.U.B.E is going to be a lot of fun for you. The Director's Cut improved a lot of elements from the original release and added more story.

A guide will help you pick up all the trophies for Q.U.B.E but there is no Platinum here.

FOUL PLAY (PS VITA, PS4)

'Foul Play is a theatre based beat 'em up where Victorian Daemonologist, Baron Dashforth, recreates his adventures for the stage; brawls and all!'

A brawler set on a theatre stage. This is avaliable on Vita and PS4, and if you're going for the trophies may find it easier on PS4.

It's a straight-forward platinum that requires a bit of a grind and around 30+ hours of playtime.

SPARKLE 2 (PS VITA)

'Sparkle 2 is a polished, match-three marble shooter puzzle game set in a mysterious world of magic and wonder. It features superbly smooth gameplay, plenty of power-ups with big special effects, beautiful graphics, and a cinematic soundtrack.'

If you're a match-three puzzle fan this will be a fun break between the more intesne games releasing in September.

No Platinum here and if you're going for the 100% you may struggle to complete the higher difficulties; just depends on how good at the game you are.
