First Look at "The Lion King" + More (Trailer Round Up)
Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub's arrival. Scar, Mufasa's brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba's exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.
DAMN! That’s how you do a teaser trailer! The teaser is pretty much the iconic opening sequence from the animated film in “Live Action” with James Earl Jones’ new performance of Mufasa telling Simba about his kingdom. But it looks so so pretty and when the song kicks in, the nostalgia hit hard. This version of Mufasa sounds different but James Earl Jones has aged 20 years so it’s understandable. Even the credits were cool! We didn’t get to hear any of the cast but just seeing that list of names is sure to get people hyped. Also, perfect timing, during Thanksgiving where I’m sure it will be shared on phones with people young and old.
The Lion King is scheduled to release in cinemas 18 July 2019
A young elephant, whose oversized ears enable him to fly, helps save a struggling circus. But when the circus plans a new venture, Dumbo and his friends discover dark secrets beneath its shiny veneer.
You can just tell this is going to hit you right in the feels. The scene where Dumbo’s mum is taken away, where they intertwine trunks, where dumbo gets laughed at, I you aren’t teary eyed you might be a robot. They appear to have done a good job making Dumbo a character that can express emotions. I would have liked to have seen his ability to fly left til the end of the trailer, making it a cool moment rather than just something he does. Looks like Disney have another hit on their hands.
Dumbo is scheduled to release in cinemas 28 March 2018
The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part
It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild. The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.
This looks better than the teaser trailer we got a few months ago. We get more of an idea of what the story is and get introduced to the villian: Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi. I also enjoy the character of Rex Dangervest who is essentially post-Guardians Chris Pratt to Emmet’s Parks and Recreation Chris Pratt. Also, the Duplo characters are perfectly voiced.
The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part releases in cinemas 21 March 2018
Sixteen year-old Wayne sets out on a dirt bike with his new crush Del to take back the 1978 Pontiac Trans Am that was stolen from his father before he died. It is Wayne and Del against the world.
This looks pretty good. I’m getting Kick Ass vibes from this. Really cool opening that sets up the character well. I was having a bit of trouble placing where it is because they talk about Florida but everyone sounds like they come from the UK. I might just have to use that Youtube Premium free trial when this release. Also, using a garden gnome on a chain as a weapon? Genius.
