Ashley’s Rating: 👎👎

This looks kinda cheesy and definitely feel like a throwback to a bygone error of kids films like Agent Cody Banks or Harriet the Spy. This has meh written all over it.

None of the supporting cast appears to have anything beyond a stereotypical personality and Nancy Drew comes across a bit too goofy for her own good. Nothing about this was funny, amusing or appealing at all. Even the mystery at the centre of it fails to muster any interest out of me.

Dylan’s Rating: 👎👎

I like Nancy Drew. I’m a fan of the kid detective story and I actually really enjoyed the 2008 Emma Roberts Nancy Drew movie at the time of release but this new one, kinda looks like a straight-to-DVD film. Not to say it looks bad because Sophia Lillis has proven herself able to hold the screen several times now between IT and Sharp Objects, but the overall production feels aimed at a 5 PM afternoon showing on Nickelodeon rather than a cinema.

There’s also the really weird fact it looks like everything was filmed on the IT set which is very off-putting if you’ve watched IT and are anticipating Chapter 2 later this year.
