The Game Awards Are Searching For ‘Global Gaming Citizens’ Nominees

by Dylan Blight

The Game Awards returns December 6 for its 5th annual show, and this year they’re taking nominations for a new spotlight: “Global Gaming Citizens.”

The description from the submission form reads:

The Game Awards and Facebook Gaming are looking for inspiring stories of people using the power of games to build community. We want to hear about gamers, game developers, or anyone from anywhere in the world with a unique story of using games to bring about positive change.

Teaming up with Indie Game: The Movie directors Lisanne Pajot and James Swirsky, it sounds like the show will feature a media piece celebrating individuals doing great things in the gaming community.

Previously, the show handed out the “Trending Gamer” award—last year’s winner was Twitch streamer Dr Disrespect. This new initiative opens the door to recognize people who might not have huge social followings but are still making a meaningful impact.

Think you know someone who fits? Submit a nomination via the
official form. Entries close September 19.
