HBO has released the first teaser trailer for The Last of Us, and it’s looking really good.
As a teaser, there’s not much in the way of explaining the story here or who any of the characters are. If you’ve played the games, you’ll be able to pick things out, of course, but HBO is very smartly marketing this upcoming series as a big new franchise — which it very well could be.

We get to spot Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as both Joel and Ellie. Still, there’s also Nick Offerman’s Bill, Merle Dandridge as Marlene, Anna Torv as Tess and Melanie Lynskey as Kathleen, a new character being introduced for the series, not from the games. Players of the Left Behind DLC from the first game will also recognise Storm Redi as Riley.

We still don’t have a solid release date for The Last of Us, but it’s coming in 2023.
