We love looking at movie and TV trailers, discussing them on the ‘What Do You Wanna Watch?’ podcast, and rating them on a thumbs-up/thumbs-down scale. Now, looking back at the year of trailers, we’re deciding what trailers stood out the most.

Here are our picks for the Best Movie & TV Trailers released in 2025.

10.) Fackham Hall

Play

Setting the tone right at the start with that hunting gag, this trailer Fackham Hall delivers a generous taste of what humour to expect in this period piece parody that also includes a murder mystery. With clever word play, funny sight gags and fart jokes, there something there for everyone.

9 .) Bugonia

Play

A brilliantly paced trailer, establishing Emma Stone’s character, introducing Jesse Plemons, than slowly revealing what the film is really about, ramping up the tension before closing with the continued us of “Good Luck, Babe!” by Chappell Roan. A compelling trailer that has you wanting to find out what happens in the whole film.

8.) The Studio

Play

Another brilliantly edited together trailer that slowly reels you in with that slow push in on perfectly capturing the city in the background as Seth Rogen’s Matt sets up what the series is going to be about. Naturally, the trailer then slowly ramps up, showcasing the show’s awesome ensemble and the cavalcade of famous cameos and delivering plenty of laughs that are sure to please film fans. This trailer also has one of the best trailer bumpers of the year in my opinion, very meta and not giving anything away from the actually trailer itself.

7.) Ready or Not 2: Here I Come

Play

Sorry if you never saw the first one, guess she lives at the end. This trailer makes it clear that this sequel isn’t just to go throught motions again, but push the chaos even further. It quickly introduces you to the new cast of characters trying to kill Samara Weaving’s character and drops her sister, played by Kathryn Newton, into this killer game. If the trailer’s anything to go by, it understands exactly why the original worked—and isn’t playing it safe. Also, as a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I popped when Sarah Michelle Gellar performed that classic staking sequence and I don’t care that it was revealed before the movie’s out.

6.) One Battle After Another

Play

There was a tone in the trailer for One Battle After Another like no other trailers in 2025 and that’s becuase of the mix of the Bob character being chaotically memorable, even in the trailers, us all wanting to know more about Benecio Del Toror’s character and wondering how Paul Thomas Anderson was going to pull off this modern-day projtect, looking like nothing else that he’s done before.

5.) The Moment

Play

I am very excited for The Moment, which is releasing in Australia a bit over a month after the U.S, which is my current only negative thing to say about this Charli XCX project. And the trailer for this film has had me hooked and excited since I first watched it. As a mega Charli fan, this Spinal Tap-like or Spice Girl Movie-inspired project looks like a great way for Charli to expand on the Brat thenenumem in a comedic and dramatic way.

4.) Weapons

Play

The mystery is set up in the Weapons trailer. You find out there are kids who have disappeared, running out of their homes all at the same time, and that a school teacher is being blamed for them, with the town turning on her. It’s the same use of the voice-over that starts the film that’s integral to making this trailer as effective as it is, as you feel invited into the mystery, and almost like you’re being asked to come along and help solve the mystery.

3.) The Running Man

Play

A fantastic editing achievement here: this trailer seamlessly sets up the world, concept and rules of the Running Man show in the film before winning you over with cool visuals, slick action moments, and cool people saying cool shit, all perfectly set to the music. Had me going in with high, high hopes.

2.) Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning

Play

“Trust me, one last time, “says Ethan Hunt in the trailer for what was being heavily marketed as a massive finale for the Mission: Impossible franchise. And the mix of hinting at all the old villains, and elements coming together in one last adventure, was sure to excite anyone into wanting to head to the cinemas to see how Ethan’s final story may come to a close.

1.) 28 Years Later

Play

One of the most memorable trailers in recent memory, this trailer stuck in my mind mostly through the use of Rudyard Kipling’s poem “Boots” which has such a brilliant tempo to it as the trailer builds with darker and darker imagery while also being thematic in line with the series. Barely a word is spoken, yet you are enchanted by what you are seeing from this franchise we thought was not coming back. Also, it has the Teletubbies in it, which is not something you expect to see in a horror movie trailer.
