The second day of D23 is the day most fans have been looking forward to, as it is an action-packed day of Marvel, Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox trailers and announcements.
We’ll be going over all of the Marvel news in this post including a special event coming this Halloween, a trailer for Secret Invasion and the announcement of the Thunderbolts team.
Wakanda Forever
The Marvel side of today’s events kicked off with the cast of Wakana Forever coming together on stage. Angella Bassett said: “It was an amazing experience, and we absolutely look forward to bringing to you. This is the calm before the amazing storm. “Chadwick was with us every step of the way, he paved the way. We had to meet his level of excellence.”

And now for something completely different — a Halloween special, or what they’re calling “A Special Presentation” from Marvel coming to Disney+ on October 7th titled Werewolf by Night. The trailer has a Grindhouse feel, and the movie/special event seems to be a who-dunnit featuring Man-Thing.
Secret Invasion

We haven’t seen Nick Fury for some time, but he’s back now with the Skrull invasion to deal with on Earth. As much as the trailer may have you believe this is a movie, it’s a series coming to Disney+ next year and will see Emilia Clarke, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Olivia Colman join the MCU. As well as the return of Cobie Smulders, Don Cheadle and Ben Mendelsohn.
Armor Wars
It officially starts shooting soon with Don Cheadle on board to return as War Machine and Secret Invasion will set this series up.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
Paul Rudd took the stage with Evangeline Lily and Jonathan Majors, saying: “It throws this whole thing into such new territory. I mean, I’m really excited.”
Fantastic Four
Matt Shakman, who directed all of WandaVision, has signed on to direct the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, which is currently slated to release on November 8th, 2024.
Captain America: New World Order
Anthony Mackie is returning to star as Sam Wilson/Captain America, but it was also revealed that two other Falcon and the Winter Soldier cast members would reprise their roles with Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Badley and Danny Ramirez and Joaquin Torres. It was also announced that Tim Blake Nelson had joined the cast as Dr. Samuel Sterns, AKA The Leader, a character he briefly played in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk.

The key plot for this film was revealed where it follows three characters — Captain Marvel, Ms Marvel and Monica Rambeau — who keep swapping places whenever they use their powers.
Echo
Alaqua Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio shared the stage to talk about the upcoming Echo series, where he said: “It’s a great cast. I was so impressed by these people. They’re amazing talents, all of them. To bring Fisk and Maya back together is such a thrill.”
Loki – Season 2
Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All At Once, Indian Jones and the Temple of Doom) has signed on for the second season of Loki.
Ironheart
Anthony Ramos has been officially added to the cast of Ironheart as Parker Robbins, AKA The Hood.
Daredevil: Born Again
Afterwards, D’Onofrio hung around to talk with Charlie Cox about the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series, which is also coming to Disney+.
Thunderbolts
The team of Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian (David Harbour), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), John Walker/U.S Agent (Wyatt Russell) and Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) were officially revealed as the MCU’s first Thunderbolts team.
That’s everything from the Marvel side of things, though I’m sure there were more nuggets of information shared with those in attendance. In the comment section below, let me know what you’re most excited about from the trailers or news.
