Surprise! A new XCOM game is out in just under two week’s time.
XCOM: Chimera Squad is a stand-alone XCOM game that takes place after the events of XCOM 2.
What’s even better is that the game will only set you back $14.97 if you purchase it from now until May 2. After that, it’ll go up to its regular price of $29.95 on Steam.
The description for the game reads:
“Set five years after the events of XCOM 2, humans, hybrids and aliens are now working together to forge a civilization of cooperation and co-existence. However, not all of Earth’s inhabitants support the interspecies alliance. City 31, a model of peace in a post-invasion world, is opposed by mysterious groups whose agendas threaten to shatter this delicate interspecies alliance. Chimera Squad, an elite force of human, hybrid and alien agents, must work together to destroy the underground threats driving the city toward chaos.”
A comic-book stylised trailer was released alongside the announcement. It doesn’t feature any gameplay (a separate video for that is down further) but sets up the post-XCOM2 world, characters and possibly tone for the game.
