It seemed like everyone was looking for nothing but Hollow Knight: Silksong, at least that’s all the chat was begging for in any of the Summer Game Fest and SGF adjacent streams I watched last week. Even with the game’s appearance during the Xbox Games Showcase, it was merely a backdrop for the announcement of an ASUS ROG and Xbox handheld PC. However, we know the game is still scheduled to release in 2025 — even if there’s no solid release date.
Team Cherry’s Matthew Griffon wrote on the official Silksong Discord that the game won’t be releasing alongside any particular console, as the wording from Xbox about Silksong being on the console at launch left some confused: “I confirmed BEFORE holiday – we are not tied to a console release.”
There was plenty of smoke and fire going into the Summer Game Fest week, as the game had received a big update on its SteamDB page. However, fans were, unfortunately, left with nothing after the week, as all the showcases had come to an end.
We do know that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be playable in September at the ‘Game Worlds‘ event that’s going to be held at ACMI in Melbourne. So the big question remains: will Hollow Knight Silksong be released before it’s in that event? Or will that be the first time the public can check out the game?
