Good news, Sonic fans: over the weekend, SEGA revealed that their upcoming racer, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, is set to release on September 25 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox.

In the trailer released at Summer Game Fest, it was revealed that the game would feature guest characters, with Joker from Persona 5 and Kasuga Ichiban from the Like a Dragon series being showcased. Even pop idol superstar Hatsune Miku is making an appearance. All of these characters will be available for free as well, “through a series of game updates,” said SEGA.

A teaser at the end of the latest trailer also seemed to indicate that we’ll be getting a ‘Minecraft’ world in the game.

If you’re playing a bunch of Mario Kart World currently and wondering if there will be a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, the answer is yes, just not at launch. SEGA has stated that a “paid upgrade path” will be available for Nintendo Switch 2 owners who purchase the Nintendo Switch version of the game at launch.
