'Celeste' Free Final Chapter Out September 9th As Studio Re-Launches
The developers of indie darling Celeste have launched a new company for all their games going forward called ‘Extremely OK Games!’ And with this announcement also comes news about Celeste: Chapter 9.
The final chapter of Celeste is more than just a few bonus levels, it’s, in fact, 100+ more levels, over 40 minutes of new music from Lena Raine and will wrap-up the story and bid one last farewell.
The FREE update will launch on September 9th and be available on all platforms, although the EXOK blog post notes the Xbox update may be delayed slightly.
With the announcement of EXOK, Matt Thorson has officially retired Matt Makes Games as the developer/publisher of the teams' projects going forward.
“I started Matt Makes Games when I was working solo in my parents’ basement, and I never thought I’d be working on this scale. On Towerfall, my collaborators took a larger role than I anticipated, and on Celeste, it was obvious that calling ourselves Matt Makes Games had become silly.”
Celeste: Chapter 9 is out on September 9th and you can play it for free. Extremely OK Games! is currently setting up their newly formed studio in Vancouver and testing ideas for a new project.
