As reported in February, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is nearing a return to our TV screens, and things are still moving along with the reboot/continuation pilot.
Deadline has shared an exclusive that Ryan Kiera Armstrong, who recently starred in the Disney+ Original Star Wars series, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, has landed a lead role alongside the returning Buffy herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar. As a new addition to the series, Armstrong will play another hunter, alongside Buffy Summers.
The most heartwarming part of this news is that Sarah Michelle Gellar recorded the moment she broke the news to Ryan Kiera Armstrong, who was visibly emotional when Gellar asked her, ” Ya wanna be my chosen one?”

Although initially Sarah Michelle Gellar was playing coy in interviews when asked about the potential of a Buffy return and had noted nothing was set yet, sharing this casting news openly on her social media to me says the series is moving along well at Hulu, where Academy Award-winning director of Nomadland, Chloé Zhao is set to direct the pilot episode.
