There are some powerful performers in video games in 2024, and as always, it can be hard to narrow it down to just five performances that stood out among them all. However, I’ve picked the five best of the year, from sequels and returning characters to new ones.

Here are my picks for the Top 5 Video Game Performances in 2024.

5.) Alessandra Mastronardi (Indiana Jones and The Great Circle)

Gina Lombardi is an investigative reporter looking into her sister’s disappearance when she bumps into Indiana Jones, and the two end up in a whirlwind adventure together. Unlike in the films where the female companions for Jones are often not as well-equipped for adventure as he is, Alessandra Mastronardi gets to bring to life someone who proves to be Indiana Jones’ equal; she’s clever, cunning and up for anything in the adventure with no fear.

4.) Troy Baker (Indiana Jones and The Great Circle)

Taking on an iconic character like Indiana Jones could be a big risk. Do a bad job, and you’ll struggle to live it down. Fortunately, Troy Baker did more than mimic the voice of Harrison Ford when taking on the role of Indian Jones; he managed to bring all the nuances and smaller moments within Ford’s performances as the character that makes it one of cinemas most famous and memorable.

3.) Melina Jurgens (Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2)

She was sensational in the first game and pulled off another intense and committed performance as Senua once again in Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2. This time, Jurgens gets to bounce off a bigger cast of characters as Senua heads off on a different type of story. Jurgens brings that same loud and strong performance from years before, making it one of the most memorable characters and performances in games in 2024.

2.) Hannah Telle (Life is Strange: Double Exposure)

Life is Strange: Double Exposure is a mixed bag for LiS series fans, but it still saw the return of Hannah Telle as the series original and favourite, Max Claufield. Now older and without her powers from the original game, Telle had to bring something different to the role, with an older Max and without Chloe to bounce off. In my mind, she delivered, and I hope to see her return to another entry.

1.) Briana White (Final Fantasy VII Rebirth)

Briana White has the task of playing one of the gamings most memorable and loved characters in Aerith Gainsborough. And coming into this particular entry of the remake/re-imagining of Final Fantasy 7, fans of the original knew we’d be getting a big performance from Briana White, even if we all weren’t quite sure the direction the story would be heading.
