Netflix has released the first images and release date of the upcoming Australian film True Spirit.
Starring Tegan Croft as Jessica Watson, True Spirit is based on the true story of a young sailor and her journey to be the youngest person to sail solo around the world. The film is a co-production between Australia and the United States, with Netflix distributing the film to limited cinemas in Australia in January, ahead of the film’s release on the streaming platform on February 3rd, 2023.
Today Netflix has released several new images showing the cast of Croft, Cliff Curtis, Josh Lawson and Anna Paquin.
” When the tenacious young sailor Jessica Watson (Teagan Croft) sets out to be the youngest person to sail solo, non-stop and unassisted around the world, many expect her to fail. With the support of her sailing coach and mentor Ben Bryant (Cliff Curtis) and her parents (Josh Lawson and Academy Award winner Anna Paquin), Jessica is determined to accomplish what was thought to be impossible, navigating some of the world’s most challenging stretches of ocean over the course of 210 days.”
True Spirit is directed by Sarah Spillane and written by Spillane, Rebecca Banner and Cathy Randall, based on the book by Jessica Watson.
