It’s a big week for video game adaptation news, as Death Stranding is the latest game to get a movie announcement.

As reported by Variety, Kojima Productions is partnering with Alex Lebovici’s Hammerstone Studios to produce a film based on Death Stranding

The 2019 game was Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima’s first game after leaving Konami Studios, and recently had a sequel announced at The Game Awards. It’ll be an exciting game to see adapted to the big screen as it’s both very cinematic (as all Kojima games are) and very personal with the players’ journey, and how it makes them feel is a big part of what makes Death Stranding so good. It was Explosion Network’s Game of the Year in 2019.

“Deliveryman Sam Porter must travel across a ravaged wasteland and reconnect the city-states of America formed after a mysterious apocalyptic event dubbed ‘death stranding’ left the world in ruins and plagued by supernatural tar creatures.”
