This morning, Sega and Atlus released a new trailer for Metaphor: ReFantazio during Summer Game Fest and 20 minutes of gameplay during a livestream following the event.

The game’s Director, Katsura Hashino (Persona 34, and 5), and Art Designer, Shigenori Soejima (Persona 34, and 5), were on stage at Summer Game Fest to talk about the game’s fourteen different ‘basic Archetypes’ – which are the special powers which “awaken” within the characters in the game. Which is to say, it’s this game version of Personas. There will be forty different Archetypes available in the game when you combine them to unlock their full potential.

Check out the story trailer that was shared during Summer Game Fest below.

The game’s dungeons will be hard to conquer and require strategy and planning regarding which Archetypes players use. A little tidbit that I love was that in Metaphor: ReFantazio, you’ll be able to see what other players used to confirm that dungeon with a network function.

And if you want to watch the 20 minutes of gameplay, check it out below. The gameplay doesn’t spoil much, as Atlus is fairly protective of their narratives and ruining it for players.

Metaphor: ReFantazio will launch on October 11 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
