Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios has revealed Yakuza Kiwami 3, alongside a spinoff to Yakuza 3, which will be released as part of the same game. Both projects are scheduled for release in February 2026.

The news was revealed during today’s RGG Summit at Tokyo Game Show 2025, which was streamed online.

Like previous Kiwami games, Yakuza Kiwami 3 will be a complete remake of the original game, utilising RGG Studios’ newest engine, this time known as the Dragon Studio. The game has also been updated with new areas and content due to changes in Okinawa, Japan, since the game’s original release 16 years ago. There will be additional scenes in the game, re-recorded lines, overhauled animations, and some scenes will have completely different outcomes. This sounds like more than just a straightforward remake.

The spinoff game is titled Yakuza 3: Dark Ties, and it’ll follow the antagonist of Yakuza 3, Yoshitaka Mine, before the events of Yakuza 3, delving more into their history and how they became who they are and ended up coming face to face with Kiryu. This isn’t just a simple and short spinoff, either; this looks like a big game with plenty of side stories, and even a mode called ‘Bro Time,’ where you talk with your brother, and there’s an underground fight club as well.
