‘Life Is Strange 2’ Teaser Connects to ‘Captain Spirit’
by Dylan Blight
SPOILERS FOR THE AWESOME ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN SPIRIT FOLLOW:
Life Is Strange 2 may be releasing next month, but DontNod isn’t in a rush to spell out what the sequel to the 2015 series is about. Today’s teaser ties neatly into The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit.
The 56-second teaser is shown entirely via the dash-cam of a police car belonging to Officer Matthew K. He pulls over and calls in a “10-10” (fight in progress). Someone off-camera yells, “It’s going to be okay, Daniel,” before both the officer and the vehicle are thrown backwards—and the video cuts out.
The teaser doesn’t reveal much, but it adds weight to the theory that Chris’s neighbour—seen at the end of Captain Spirit—could be the kid with powers, not Chris. Dataminers also found the name “Daniel” in the Captain Spirit files.
Explore the garage in Captain Spirit and you’ll find a Seattle newspaper clipping about a strange altercation that left an officer dead—and that officer having killed someone as well. In-game, Captain Spirit is set in December 2016; the teaser is timestamped October 28, 2016, so the timeline lines up.
If this teaser depicts that incident, the open questions are: who did the officer kill—and who escaped? Given the “10-10” call, there are at least three people off-screen here, including the officer.
We’ll learn more on August 20; the teaser promises “all will be revealed.”
