Panache Digital Games, the studio behind Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, has officially unveiled 1666: Amsterdam, a dark third-person action-adventure game from creative director Patrice Désilets.
The announcement came during Summer Game Fest 2026 last week, alongside a new trailer and the surprise release of a free playable prologue, now available on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Check out the announcement trailer below.
Set across three timelines — 1666, 1999 and the present day — 1666: Amsterdam centres on Noa Brooklyn, a woman born into the role of ‘The Collector’ and raised by a mysterious group known as the Zaindaris.
The prologue, which lasts around 30 minutes, introduces the game’s world, characters and core mystery, allowing you to experience Noa’s “Commencement” as she begins to understand the role she was born to fulfil.
“It’s been a long time coming, and I couldn’t be prouder of our team of nearly 70 talented developers in Montreal,” said creative director Patrice Désilets.
“For the past six years, we’ve focused on one thing above all else: the game itself. No fake footage, no vertical slices, just a playable experience evolving build after build, day after day.”
Désilets added that the prologue is “an amuse-bouche before a nine-course dinner”, giving players a taste of the world, characters and different time periods featured in the full game.
1666: Amsterdam is set to launch in Early Access on PC later this year, with console versions planned for a later date. The free prologue is available now on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
