PSVR Exclusive ‘Astro Bot: Rescue Mission’ Releasing October
by Dylan Blight
Nicolas Doucet, Creative Director at Japan Studio, took to the PlayStation Blog today to announce Astro Bot: Rescue Mission will be releasing exclusively for PS VR on October 3, with both digital and physical editions.
Astro Bot Rescue Mission is a new VR platformer created exclusively for PS VR. In the game you take control of Astro, the captain of a spaceship traveling in search for his lost crew.
The adventure spans across 26 levels that take the platforming genre to new heights with 360 degree VR gameplay, huge towering bosses, precise controls and a good dose of challenge and humour! If you haven’t had a chance to see the game in action yet, check out this video where I explain some of the game’s main features.

If you played the free Playroom VR experience — which you should because it’s fun, free and has an easy Platinum trophy — you would have got your first taste of Astro Bot. One of the mini-games in that collection was the kickoff point for this full-fledged third-person PS VR adventure.
Using VR for third-person experiences has proven to be a great use of the technology and what we’ve seen of this game so far makes it look like a fun time.
If you pre-order the game digitally you can pick up some avatars, a theme and a digital soundtrack.
