‘Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice VR’ Coming Soon + PS4 HDR Now
by Dylan Blight
Developer Ninja Theory has announced two updates for last year’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
On July 31 you’ll be able to play Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice VR. And no, it’s not just a mode or a snippet — it’s the entire game in VR. It’s coming to Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, and Ninja Theory recommends at least a GTX 1080 to run it — which is likely why PS VR simply won’t be able to handle the experience.
Even better, it’s completely free for anyone who already owns the game (or buys it later). It’s not a standalone version.
If you’re a little let down (like I am) that PS VR won’t be getting the VR edition, there’s still good news for PlayStation owners. A new patch for Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice on PlayStation 4 adds HDR support alongside a couple of bug fixes. The game already looked fantastic, but HDR should make the experience even more visually striking for those with compatible TVs.
We put Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice at number two in our Top 10 Games of 2017 list, and the VR mode should only make the journey more intense, interesting, horrifying, and engrossing.
