Adelaide Film Festival 2026 Reveals Full Program With 122 Films

Adelaide Film Festival has revealed its 2026 program, featuring 122 films from 52 countries, including Wild Horse Nine, Coward, Fatherland and more.

The Adelaide Film Festival has revealed its full 2026 program, with 122 films from 52 countries set to screen across Adelaide from October 14-25.

This year’s program includes 27 Australian premieres and 10 world premieres, alongside major films arriving from Cannes, Sundance, Venice and other international festivals.

Opening AFF 2026 is the Australian premiere of Martin McDonagh’s film Wild Horse Nine, starring John Malkovich, Sam Rockwell, Steve Buscemi, Parker Posey and Tom Waits. It’s McDonagh’s latest film following In Bruges, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and The Banshees of Inisherin.

AFF’s Saturday Night Party film is Jim Queen, an animated French comedy from directors Marco Nguyen and Nicolas Athané.

A strong selection of other films is arriving in Adelaide, including Lukas Dhont’s Coward, which arrived after winning Best Actor at Cannes; Paweł Pawlikowski’s Fatherland, which won Best Director at Cannes; and Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty!, which comes to AFF after winning Best Director at Sundance.

Several films that screened at the Melbourne International Film Festival earlier this year are also heading to Adelaide, including Wicker, Fatherland, Coward, Josephine, Victorian Psycho, Minotaur, Sweet Milk Lake and Wilderness.

Australian cinema is again a major part of the festival. The AFF Investment Fund-supported films include Agata the Writer, The Forbidden Aunt, KUMARANGK: Sacred Women’s Business, and Aftermath, with several productions receiving their world or Australian premieres at the festival.

KUMARANGK: Sacred Women’s Business will have its world premiere at AFF and revisits one of Australia’s most divisive cultural conflicts through the women who lived it.

There’s also plenty happening beyond the feature films, and you can find everything on the AFF 2026 website, as well as pick up tickets for films.

Adelaide Film Festival 2026 runs from October 14-25.
