AEW: Double or Nothing 2020 is taking place on Sunday, the 24th of May at 10 AM AEST. Here are our predictions of how it will all go down in, and outside the ring.
Private Party vs Best Friends
Buddy Watson:
Hangman still owes Private Party $12 #NeverForget # PayUp – they win.
Ciaran Marchant:
My initial pick was Best Friends but the ongoing feud with Havoc and Sabian will cause the win to go to the fan favourite Private Party.
Dylan Blight:
Private Party gets a tough win over the Best Friends as they work their way to facing off against Hangman and Kenny.
Bonus Picks:
-
Ashley Hobley – Best Friends
Dustin Rhodes vs Shawn Spears
Buddy Watson:
Would love for Spears to be a major player in the TNT title picture and a win here would help.
Ciaran Marchant:
Spears has had a slow start to his AEW career so a win here will build him further into the heel to be feared in AEW.
Dylan Blight:
Spears gets a good match in but ultimately Dustin wins. I think you can build Spears enough here and have him lose, especially if someone comes to Rhodes aid. He deserves a win after getting his ass beat lately anyway.
Bonus Picks:
-
Ashley Hobley – Shawn Spears
Penelope Ford vs Kris Stadtlander
Buddy Watson:
Upset win for Ford. Need to build more heels now Britt is out for the eventual Shida win.
Ciaran Marchant:
Britt Baker will not be wrestling and I don’t see AEW just handing a win to Kris. I think this is an excellent chance to bring in talent from left field and push them into the spot Britt has left in the women’s division.
Dylan Blight:
Sad to see Britt unable to participate after her injury on Dynamite and I would have been picking her to win. Nonetheless, I’ll be picking her replacement, Penelope, to win as well.
Bonus Picks:
-
Ashley Hobley – Kris Statlander (by count)
MJF vs Jungle Boy
Buddy Watson:
MJF, because he is better than Jungle Boy and we know it.
Ciaran Marchant:
Little needs to be said here MJF is on his way to gold and Jungle Boy has been used as a building talent early in his AEW career.
Dylan Blight:
Jungle Boy gets revenge for the entire Jurassic Express by taking MJF down a notch. I’m hoping Luchasaurus comes out to set up a match with Wardlow post-match as well.
Bonus Picks:
-
Ashley Hobley – MJF
Casino Ladder Match: Darby Allin vs Colt Cabana vs Orange Cassidy vs Joey Janela vs Scorpio Sky vs Kip Sabian vs Frankie Kazarian vs Luchasaurus vs mystery competitor
Buddy Watson:
If it’s not a new guy I’d love for it to be Wardlow.
Ciaran Marchant:
If this match is designed for any one man in this group it’s Darby Allin. Since his debut on AEW, he has been a rising star and I would love to see him in a championship program against Moxley in the future.
Dylan Blight:
Fenix was my original pick until he had to sit the event out after his injury at Dynamite this past week. My money would be on Darby now. The mystery competitor will be Pineapple Pete!
Bonus Picks:
-
Ashley Hobley – Kip Sabian (TBC is EC3)
Stadium Stampede: Matt Hardy & The Elite vs The InnerCircle
Buddy Watson:
Oh, you thought Vanguard 1 was dead? WRONG! It was an illusion (or we may have Vanguard 1 in the vessel of Vanguard 2, how good is wresting?
Ciaran Marchant:
The Elite stood tall at the end of the go-home Dynamite which is often a tell in Wrestling. But the Inner Circle needs a win here to continue their Presence as a faction within AEW. The Elite has shown in the past it’s not afraid of losing and it’s another chance for Hangman to turn his back on the group.
Dylan Blight:
The Elite has to win this one after a long and hard battle. There will be at least 8 different versions of Matt Hardy and too may Super Kicks to count. And then… I think The Revolt will show up at the end to start a fight with Young Bucks just as the dust is settling.
Bonus Picks:
-
Ashley Hobley – The Elite
AEW Women’s Championship: Nyla Rose vs Hikaru Shida
Buddy Watson:
Britt just went done with an ACL and she was building as the major heel of the division. If Shida wins, who would challenge her? I think it’s Nyla for now until the build the other women’s heels to take on Shida
Ciaran Marchant:
Since the start of AEW, I’ve been a fan of Shida and any match she is involved in. The Queen of multi-woman matches may be going one-on-one but I think she has a great chance of going over.
Dylan Blight:
Tough match but ultimately Nyla wins and continues her reign for the time being.
Bonus Picks:
-
Ashley Hobley – Nyla Rose
AEW TNT Championship: Cody vs Lance Archer
Buddy Watson:
I love Cody but building Archer as this monster and having him fall at the first big moment would be a mistake. Cody just keeps putting over talent. Iron Mike is gonna knock someone out and I’m scared it’s Cody.
Ciaran Marchant:
Cody has been the workhorse for AEW both in terms of bringing uprising talent and putting them over. I think with the Lance Archer storyline it’s suitable for Cody to take the mid-card championship to continue building talent without hurting Archer too much.
Dylan Blight:
A hard call. I like the idea of Archer continuing to be built up as this unstoppable machine but also Cody needs a win and this is the only belt he can go for. So I’m giving it to Cody. Revenge for his family, and a belt, finally.
Bonus Picks:
-
Ashley Hobley – Lance Archer
AEW World Championship: Jon Moxley vs Brodie Lee
Buddy Watson:
Mox is a one-man army wrecking ball that needs to stay that way. I see Omega taking the belt off him at All Out to go full circle with their rivalry.
Ciaran Marchant:
I believe Moxley has been built so well that a match like this isn’t the time to drop the title, but I don’t think this is a straightforward win or the end of the feud. Expect shenanigans from the Dark Order and a win by DQ.
Dylan Blight:
No way Mr Brodie wins this as much as he thinks he already has by holding the belt. You can keep the Dark Order story going even if he loses. Mox stays the champ. Takes his belt home.
Bonus Picks:
-
Ashley Hobley – Jon Moxley
