Alan Wake 2 PS5 Pro add ray-tracing and more

Remedy Games has shared details on the Alan Wake 2 PlayStation 5 Pro update, including the addition of ray-tracing, which isn’t available on the base PS5 version of the game.

Both the ‘Quality’ and ‘Performance’ modes in Alan Wake 2 will be upgraded on the PS5 Pro, as they utilize the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscaling.

When sharing the news, Remedy Games spoke about how well PSSR works and how it helps get more out of the hardware, which would otherwise be impossible.

“Even putting all the added power to increased rendering resolution provided a barely noticeable difference in the output image or its quality. Adding more pixels to gain visual quality is not straightforward with the new AI-based upscaling methods.”

Here are all the features that’ll be available on each version of the game.

Quality Mode

• 30fps with ray tracing
• Ray traced reflections (opaque and transparent)
• Output resolution 3840 x 2160 (4K)
• Render resolution 2176 x 1224

Performance Mode

• 60fps
• Using approximately the same render (image quality) settings as the base PS5 Quality mode.
• Base PS5 Performance mode version runs at lower render (image quality) settings
• Render resolution 1536 x 864
• Output resolution 3840 x 2160 (4K)
• Base PS5 version outputs 1440p.
