Early this morning, Geoff Keighley revealed the nominees for The Game Awards 2022. There were a couple of surprises and questionable placement of games in specific categories, but overall it felt like a safe list of nominees for 2022.
SIFU being nominated for ‘Best Fighting Game’ is going to ruffle some feathers, but seeing Xenoblade Chronicles 3 get a GOTY nomination after the number of jokes I’ve seen, saying it wouldn’t feels justified.
The Game Awards are the biggest night in gaming each year that celebrates what a panel (with a small percentage of audience votes) determines to be the best in various categories. It’s not the Oscars, but it’s about as close as we get in gaming with a big show and rewards people who like to hang everything on.
