It’s D23 2022 weekend at the moment, and thing’s kicked off with a day of video game announcements and a bunch of trailers and reveals for upcoming animated and live-action stuff from Disney/Pixar.
A trailer for Disenchanted, starring Amy Adams, was released, the announcement of Inside Out 2 brought much excitement and the first trailer for the live-action The Little Mermaid gave us the first look at Halle Bailey as Ariel.

Disenchanted

Set fifteen years after Enchanted, we return to Giselle (Amy Adams) and Robert (Patrick Dempsey) in this sequel which features new music from Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. Disenchanted is streaming on Disney+ from November 24.
Haunted Mansion
Inspired by the theme park attraction, this new Haunted Mansion film will tell the story of a woman and her son who enlist the help of a motley crew of “spiritual experts” to help rid their home of supernatural entities. Also, Director Justin Simien also revealed on stage he used to at Disneyland! Haunted Mansion is releasing in 2023.
Peter Pan & Wendy
This live-action Peter Pan film promises to expand Wendy’s character and better explain the backstory behind Peter Pan and Captain Hook’s bitter rivalry. It stars Alexander Molony as Peter, Ever Anderson as Wendy, Alyssa Wapanatahk as Tiger Lilly and Jude Law as Captain Hook. The film is being directed by David Lowery and is coming to Disney+ in 2023.
Mufasa: The Lion King
A prequel to The Lion King, the Barry Jenkins-directed film will focus on Mufasa and his rise to be the greatest king of the pride lands. The film isn’t due to release until 2024.
Snow White
A new live-action reimagining stars Rachel Zegler as Snow White, and Marc Webb directs Gal Gadot as her Stepmother. The film is still some time away as it has a 2024 release date.
The Little Mermaid

Our first look and trailer for The Little Mermaid from director Rob Marshall and starring Halle Bailey as Ariel. The film will include classic songs like “Part of Your World,” played for the D23 audience, and new songs by Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda. The film also stars Melissa McCarthy as Ursual and Javier Bardem as Triton. The Little Mermaid is coming to cinemas in 2023.
Elemental
Elemental is set in a city where fire, water, land and air creatures all live together. The film will focus on Ember, the fire character and Wade, a water character who falls in love, all despite the apparent differences.
Win or Lose
As Pixar’s first-ever long-form series, there’s a big push and intrigue behind Win or Lose. The series takes place during a week, and each episode focuses on a different character as part of a middle school softball team in their finals week.
Inside Out 2
The sequel to Inside Out will focus on a now-teenage Riley who has to deal with new emotions. Amy Poehler is confirmed to return as Joy, and the film currently has a Summer 2024 release date.
Elios
Pixar announced Elio, which tells the story of 11-year-old Elio, who mistakenly becomes an ambassador for Earth after being beamed into space by aliens. Elio is releasing in 2024.
ZOOTOPIA+
Launching on November 9, those in attendance at D23 could see a trailer for the new short-form series, which see us return to Zootopia.
Iwájú
A new collaboration between Disney and Pan-African comic book entertainment company Kugali was announced, titled Iwájú. The long-form series is a coming-of-age story set in a fictional version of Lagos, Nigeria.
Strange World
Disney’s 61st feature film made an appearance at D23, and although the film is only a couple of months away with a November 24 release date, it was only D23 (for now) attendees who could watch the trailer.
Disney’s Wish
Closing the first day’s presentation for Disney/Pixar revealed Disney’s next feature original animated film, Wish. The film gets kinda-meta as it’s the story behind the wishing star that many other Disney characters will “wish upon a star” during their stories. The film stars Ariana DeBose as Asha, the young girl who calls upon a star and ends up befriending it. She performed a new original song for those in attendance written by Julia Michaels, who is writing all the songs for Wish. The film also stars Alan Tudyk as a goat named Valentino. Wish is releasing in November 2023, which is the 100th anniversary year of Disney Studios.
