Square Enix’s E3 2021 showcased featured a big first-look at a Guardians of the Galaxy game, a good look at Babylon’s Fall, and the reveal of several Final Fantasy games.
Here are all the trailers and everything we saw at the Square Enix E3 Showcase.
As the rumours had suggested, Eidos Montreal has been working on the Guardians of the Galaxy game. It is a single-player, story-driven game, and you’ll be playing as Star-Lord.
The developers explained that the decisions you make as Star-Lord will have small to significant decisions on the story and how characters treat you.
The collection sees Final Fantasy 1-6 get a “pixel-perfect” remaster.
Each game in the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster collection will release separately or together in a group on mobile and Steam soon. Unfortunately, there’s no console release date.
A roadmap of upcoming content was outlined for Marvel’s Avengers.
Cosmic Cube launches later this month, with Wasteland Patrol with Hawkeye coming this “summer and beyond”, along with the War For Wakanda update.
The main focus was the War of Wakanda expansions which, of course, introduces Black Panther to the mix and takes the story to Wakanda. In addition, there was a nice cinematic trailer played which introduced this game’s version of the Black Panther.
The highly-anticipated Babylon’s Fall from Platinum Games got a much-needed explanation and gameplay video today. As you’d expect, it’s an action-RPG game, but it’s also a 4-player co-op that you can also play solo and a live-service game. According to the Youtube description of the trailer, the content that will be added for free includes “game modes.”
Square Enix Japan with Tetsuya Nomura & Team Ninja has teamed up for Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin.
The story here seems to take place sometime after the events of the original Final Fantasy game. Although he has transformed into Chaos, Garland is revealed as the villain, the final boss of the original game. However, as was teased in the epilogue of Final Fantasy, it seems Garland didn’t transform back into an honourable knight at all and instead had been awaiting the Warriors of Light.
Look, there will be jokes about this for quite some time, but I’m keen to learn more about Stranger of Paradise.
A demo will be coming soon to PlayStation 5, and we can all find out how it plays.
That’s everything from the Square Enix E3 2021 Showcase, but if you’d like to watch the show in full, you can find it below.
