As part of Melbourne International Games Week, another massive Big Games Night Out has been announced for Thursday, October 10th. It’ll feature music, games, and vibes, and it’s a free event.

The event will feature the global premiere of Blaktasia: Invasion of The Murk, the debut game from Melbourne/Naarm-based, Aboriginal-led studio GUCK. The game will be shown on the large Fed Square screen, giving all those in attendance an exclusive look at the upcoming world and characters.

“Blaktasia is a free, accessible, and educational mobile game adventure about restoring the bush with native animal encounters in a First Nations fantasy world informed by Country.”

There will also be a custom Koala fairy floss to eat. Or not eat because it looks too damn cute.

But that’s not all. Big Games Night Out will feature appearances from Tijka, The Bass in Vader, Montaigne, and more. Plus, there will be games playable for all ages, including Just Dance, Untitled Goose Game, Gang Beast, and Mario Kart, and competitions including Super Smash Bros and even Tetris.

For the first time, Fed Square will have a massive Crossy Road, where you can play with a life-size jump controller in a giant inflatable chicken costume.

You can also check out a one-shot D&D campaign from The Gammin Guild, an All-Indigenous cast with a few special guests.

There are plenty of food offerings around Fed Square, so attendees can stop and grab a bite at either Mabu Mabu or Beer Deluxe.

Last year, the Big Games Night Out featured a Cult of the Lamb rave, which has spun off into its event (very much sold out). The whole thing was well put together, so I recommend checking out the BGNO 2024.

It looks like it’ll be another great night of fun and pre-PAX goodness for all of those arriving in Melbourne ahead of the event.
