Universal Pictures is looking to ‘Avengersize’ the Fast & Furious universe not only with the upcoming release of The Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, but also kicking around the idea of a female lead entry starring Charlize Theron.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal is looking to double, triple, maybe even quadruple down on the massive franchise that is The Fast & The Furious. Universal currently doesn’t have too many franchises, and with Disney’s portfolio only growing, who can blame them.

Charlize Theron played Cipher in the franchises eighty entry The Fate of The Furious in which, unsurprisingly, she wasn’t killed. Cipher was the head of a hacker network that spent the entirety of the movie flying around in a moving base while twisting Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto to do as she pleased, making for a sinister and interesting villain. I gave The Fate of The Furious a 6/10 in my review but praised Theron’s baddie for being particularly menacing.

With (apparently) only two more main-line Fast and Furious films to come, Universal must be working to make sure the franchise can continue with other directions. Those, of course, including the upcoming spin-off starring one of the biggest stars in Hollywood at the moment, Dwayne Johnson.

Would you be down to watch a Cipher spin-off movie? Let us know in the comments below.
