Stig Asmussen announced in 2024 that he was leaving Respawn Entertainment after working up the two Star Wars Jedi games to set up his independent studio called Giant Skull. And we now know what their first project will be.

Giant Skull is teaming up with Wizards of the Coast to develop an original action-adventure Dungeons & Dragons game.

John Hight, President of Wizards of the Coast and Digital Gaming at Hasbro, said this about the project:

“Stig and the team at Giant Skull are exactly the type of exceptionally talented creators we want to work with, and I’m so happy to be reuniting with him on this new project. In our time working together on God of War I got to see firsthand Stig’s artistry and expertise, and he and the Giant Skull team are the perfect fit for our new game. Worldbuilding and storytelling is in our DNA, and this collaboration reflects our evolution and commitment to our Playing to Win Strategy, building a stronger presence in digital play. We look forward to revealing more about this brand-new Dungeons & Dragons game in the future.”

The team at Giant Skull has previously announced they would be working on story-driven games and that their first project, which we now know to be this Dungeons & Dragons game, will be made in Unreal Engine 5.
