Xbox has kicked off 2024 with the first video game showcase.

Less is more when it comes to the Xbox Developer_Director, with deep dives into five upcoming games, new trailers, developer behind the scenes and reveal trailers. This showcase should have something for everyone and plenty for Xbox fans to look forward to, with four of these games arriving on Xbox Game Pass on day one, but all of them arriving on Xbox this year.

Here’s everything that was shown during the February 2024 Xbox Developer_Direct.

Avowed – Spring 2024

Play

A deep dive into the gameplay of Aovwed from Obsidian indicates how Bethesda games like The Elder Scrolls series influence it. Fortunately, that isn’t a lot, based on what’s seen here, with interesting combat giving you a choice of using melee weapons, bows, guns, and wands. The world of the ‘Living Lands’ looks unique, with very different biomes, and the characters and how you’ll interact with the world seem dynamic, with your choices making an impact.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II – May 21

Play

It’s been a LONG time coming, but a release date for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is easily the biggest takeaway from this entire Developer_Direct. There’s no new trailer for the game here, but the behind-the-scenes look at the development of the game at Ninja Theory and the passion everyone has for the world. Importantly, Senua herself makes the upcoming release sound even more exciting. The team talked a little about how combat will be different, and the binaural audio has been improved once again.

Visions of Mana – Winter 2024

Play

Square Enix was a surprise addition to the Developer_Director, and they brought Visions of Mana to the table to discuss, showing off brand new gameplay and behind-the-scenes information, including Koichi Ishii, the creator of the series, and what he’s adding to this new entry in the long-running RPG series.

Ara: History Untold – Spring 2024

Play

Oxide Games showed off all-new gameplay of the upcoming strategy game, Ara: History Untold, and explained the game’s unique simultaneous turns system.\

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle – 2024

Play

Ending the Developer_Direct showcase was our first look at MachineGames’ upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The team behind the fantastic Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein: The New Colossus is taking everything they learned about killing Nazis and putting Indiana Jones to work punching Nazis, which is something he does best. The game is set somewhere between Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Indiana will be teaming up with a new character introduced in the game, and other than cinematics and some actions like climbing up drain pipes, the game will be in the first-person view. And it looks like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will have everything players could want from an Indy game, with whip-puzzle solving, whip-combat, whip-stealth, and whip-traversal.
