This morning Nintendo debuted their biggest Nintendo Direct in well over a year. It was fifty minutes of (mostly) games in development that’ll release in 2021.
Here are all the trailers and announcements from the Nintendo Direct.
With the ability to switch between Pyra and Mythra on the fly, this is more than just another “anime sword character.”
Pyra and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will join the fight in March.
The popular battle royale that launched on PS4 and PC last year will make its way to Nintendo Switch in 2021.
The space-exploration slash Groundhog Day journey will make its long-awaited arrival on Nintendo Switch in 2021.
Initially announced in 2019 and delayed out of 2020, the remakes of both the Famicom Detective Club games will release on Nintendo Switch on May 14th.

The games were released in the ’80s for the Family Computer Disk System, Nintendo’s first console, and only released in Japan.
The latest entry in the Musou Samurai Warriors series will arrive on Nintendo Switch sometime later this Winter.
A remake of Legend of Mana will enable you to do things like disable encounters altogether, and there’s a new Tamagotchi-like mini-game.
Legend of Mana remastered for the Switch releases on June 24th.

In this game your an assassin killing monsters in Heaven, or something along those lines. It looks pretty cool and seems to be a first-person parkour combination with a card battle system.
Obviously for the younger kids, but I’m all about the DC Super Hero Girls, so I could quickly put some time into this game on June 14th.
Get all of your plant vs zombie warfare when Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighbourville launches on March 19th for Nintendo Switch.
Do you remember Miitopia on the 3DS? Well, it’s back on May 12th for Nintendo Switch.
The Animal Crossing: New Horizons train never stops. The game is now getting Super Mario Bros content on February 25th which includes costumes and more.
Other than the terrible working title, this is a highlight of today’s Nintendo Direct. With many Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem inspirations, this 2.5D tactical RPG is sure to tick many gamers boxes.
There seem to be many strategies involved in combing attacks and using elemental abilities to trigger special effects.
The story also seems very deep with multiple branching paths depending on what decisions you make in the game.
There’s a demo live right now on the Nintendo eShop.
No gameplay was shown for this, but it was described as a “competitive free-to-play shooter” which will be out later this year. It’s also set between Star Wars Episode 6 and 7.
An arena combat game from EA when you can transform into a ball and your teammates can throw you at enemies.
This was initially released on iOS late last year but will be coming to Nintendo Switch on May 28th.
I can’t find confirmation this is releasing in Australia as of writing, but I hope it is.
The physical edition of Hades (our Game of the Year 2020) will include a download of the fantastic soundtrack as well as an artbook.
This is Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Sigma 2 and Razor’s Edge in a collection. It is releasing on June 10th.

At this stage, I was like, “wow there’s a lot of JRPG’s in this Nintendo Direct.”
SaGA Frontier Remastered will arrive on April 15th.
Prepare to drop into the Apex games when Apex Legends finally releases for Nintendo Switch on March 9th.
Switch players get double XP for the first two weeks of the games release and 30 free levels for the current seasons battle pass.
As a reminder: there’s no cross-progression between Apex Legends on different platforms.
We didn’t get a single word about Breath of the Wild 2, but Nintendo announced Zelda’s Legend: Skyward Sword HD today.
When initially released for the Wii the game made significant use of the Wii Motion Plus and motion controls. They return for the Switch version with more precise inputs from the JoyCon controllers. But you’ll also be able to play with a Pro Controller or a Switch Lite as the analogue sticks will let you input the slicing motions of Link’s sword when in combat.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD will release for Nintendo Switch on June 16th.
Nintendo also revealed a very sweet looking JoyCon controller set that’ll release at the same time as Skyward Sword HD.
Today’s Nintendo Direct came to a close with the reveal of Splatoon 3. There were some hints at new locations and maybe weapons? But otherwise, this was just a very nice teaser for something we’ll learn more about in the future.
Splatoon 3 is set to release in 2022.
