Nintendo has given a deep-dive look at Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave during a dedicated Direct, revealing the game’s story, tactical gameplay and progression systems ahead of its September 17 launch on Nintendo Switch 2.
Here’s a quick rundown of everything announced.
Set in the Dagdan Empire, the game begins five years after the Heroic Games when the demon god Balor returns and plunges the world into chaos. You’ll travel back through time to change the fate of four Heroes, each with their own story:
- Cai – Fighting to save his imprisoned father.
- Dietrich – A warrior seeking his next battle.
- Theodora – A commander fighting for her kingdom.
- Leda – A musician searching for revenge.

Each campaign can be played independently, with progress saved across all four routes.
Outside of combat, you can spend time training, buying and upgrading weapons, recruiting allies, doing some side quests, and generally making your way around towns and dungeons for some sightseeing and adventure. However, time will pass as you travel, meaning you’ll have to think about what you choose to do and when.

Turn-based strategy returns, along with terrain bonuses and weapon advantages, and a rundown of new and returning mechanics mentioned were:
- Over 20 classes across Beginner, Specialty and Advanced tiers
- Combat Arts for powerful attacks
- Blaze Arts, unique abilities tied to each Hero
- Fortuna’s Blessing, allowing players to rewind time during battles and undo mistakes
Nintendo also revealed the Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Dagdan Collection, which includes:

- SteelBook
- Artbook
- Character art cards
- Map of Dagda
