The first-ever Silent Hill Transmission took place Thursday morning and the show brought many announcements.
The long-rumoured Silent Hill 2 remake was finally revealed, but that wasn’t all, as three other Silent Hill games were announced as well as a brand new movie in pre-production.
Here’s all the news from the Silent Hill Transmission:
Things kicked off with the long-rumoured Silent Hill 2 remake, which is being developed by Bloober Team, the developer behind games like Layers of Fear and The Medium. The team talked about some changes to this remake, like an over-the-shoulder camera, and how combining the old with the new isn’t an easy task, but they believe they’re on the right track.
Famed composer Akira Yamaoka appeared to talk about returning to work on the remake’s music, something that will make any hardcore fan very happy.
Silent Hill 2 Remake is exclusive to PlayStation 5.
This new game is coming from developer No Code and publisher Annapurna Interactive. No Code previously made 2019’s fantastic sci-fi thriller, Observation and the inventive Stories Untold in 2017. A creepy teaser trailer introduced the game, before Jon McKellan from No Code talked about how inspirational Silent Hill has been to the team’s games at No Code.
A new type of Silent Hill game is coming which is based on watching horror together in a communal aspect. You’ll help shape the story with other players in this interactive game. The game comes from GenVid, Bad Robot Games, Behaviour and DJ2.
This game comes from Ryukishi07, the Japanese writer behind the popular series of ‘When They Cry’ visual novels. It’s being developed by Neobards Entertainment, who have worked with Capcom a lot recently on ports of the Resident Evil games, as well as Resident Evil Re:Verse. The very creepy teaser trailer features traditional Japanese music, and what looks like a potential feudal Japan setting for Silent Hill, which would be very interesting.
