In a brand new trailer for Pokémon Sword/Shield last week, Nintendo and Game Freak revealed that on top of the usual exclusive Pokémon set for each game, there would also be Gigantamax variants locked behind save files for Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee/Pikachu and grabbing the game early.
Those with a Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee save the file on their Nintendo Switch will get access to a Gigantamax Eevee that is extra fluffy. Those with a Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu save file will grab — as the internet has named it — chunky Pikachu, which is basically the OG Pikachu but huge. If you grab the game before January 15th, 2020 you’ll be able to get an exclusive Gigantamax Meowth that’s akin to the Piranha Plant DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate earlier in the year which went on sale after the free period.
On this week’s episode of Arcade Couch Dylan and Ashley discuss if more exclusives locked behind save files and grabbing the game early is a good thing or not.
