After nearly 90 minutes of teasing, music performances and some cringey interviews, the Fast & Furious 9 trailer was introduced by Vin Diesel to a crowd in Miami at the ‘Road To F9 Concert’ and to viewers online. The trailer certainly did not disappoint with massive reveals either.

Let’s get to it: Han is back, baby.

Literally nothing in this trailer could have made me as happy as seeing Han back in this franchise, and then having Sung Kang join the cast on stage was a great moment for fans.

Han isn’t alone in this film’s Tokyo Drift family, as we see the return of both Lucas Black as Sean Boswell and Jason Tobin as Earl in one quick scene that’s easy to miss.

The next reveal, of course, was that John Cena is playing not only this film’s baddie, but also Dom’s long-lost brother. Thus begins the new tagline: “Not all blood is family.”

He isn’t working alone, however, as Charlize Theron’s Cipher from The Fate of the Furious is returning and appears to be on a revenge mission against Dom.

Fast 10 (or whatever it ends up being called) is set to release in 2021, which may be important information when heading into F9. With the two movies only a year apart and 10 being called the finale to the long-running franchise, it’d make sense for the team to have set up a potential two-act structure to give the final film more weight. Will Cipher end up being the true last mission to take down—or someone else? It’ll all depend on how this movie goes over. With Han’s return, I’d also like to see him get a few free hits on Shaw if we can get Jason Statham to come back over to the mainline films for a moment and not just his spin-off series.
