The long-rumoured Final Fantasy IX Remake is back in the news this morning after Jeff Grubb talked about it during his ‘Game Mess Mornings’ podcast.

A remake of Final Fantasy IX was part of the now infamous leak from NVIDIA, and fans of that game, which includes me, have long been awaiting a reveal since everything else on that list has come true. This morning Grubb spoke about the game again.

“I will say I heard very recently once again Final Fantasy IX Remake is real. That is real and happening.”

He didn’t say anything new other than confirming that it’s still a thing, but over on ResetEra, a known leaker on the forum ‘Im a Hero Too’ stated that the game is coming to PlayStation 5 and also said, “it is not FF7R, but it’s definitely not “just” a remaster.”

Other evidence users on the forum point to is a video from “Paolo fromTOKYO” where they talk to an artist at Square Enix who can’t share what he’s working on currently but has many Final Fantasy IX figures on their desk.
