Square Enix has officially unveiled Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy.

The game was announced during Summer Game Fest 2026 last week. It will launch simultaneously for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC in Autumn 2027, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the original Final Fantasy VII.

Check out the reveal trailer below.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation picks up after the events of Rebirth, with Cloud and his crew racing across the planet aboard the Highwind as Sephiroth edges closer to godhood and Meteor threatens total annihilation.

For the first time in the remake trilogy, you’ll be able to freely explore the entire planet using the airship, parachuting directly into locations and seamlessly transitioning from air to ground exploration. Square Enix also confirmed that Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind will be fully playable, joining the hybrid real-time and tactical combat system with their own unique abilities and playstyles.

The extended gameplay reveal also showcased returning locations, including Wutai, Mideel and the Northern Continent, as well as a new ‘FITS’ system that lets you equip characters with different outfits inspired by classic Final Fantasy jobs, such as the Black Mage and Warrior, granting new abilities and movesets.

Director Naoki Hamaguchi said that the game is centred around the theme of “resolve”, with Cloud and his companions confronting their convictions as they journey toward the final battle that will determine the planet’s fate.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation is set to release in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
